Well, did you see any snowflakes in the air this morning? Cold air left behind from the weather system over the weekend lowered snow levels to our foothills and with another storm arriving today it was possible any moisture falling about anywhere could have had a wintry mix.
I said in Sunday’s column we would talk about snow today; however, forecast models have backed off from Saturday’s runs keeping the coldest air well to our east and the coldest pool of air off our coast. That means the mountains get clobbered and we get chilly rain. After another storm moves inland, we could see a repeat later Thursday into early Friday.
Snow levels stay well above the city and no big snowfall expected locally. If you want to play in the white stuff, head to the mountains this weekend. There will be feet of it. Joyful news to the ski resorts.
With only a short while to go remaining in November, we will be close to receiving our average rainfall. As of 5 p.m. Monday however, Vancouver was running nearly an inch below normal in November. Temperature-wise, we are running 4 degrees below average.
