Three people were displaced by a Wednesday morning apartment fire in east Vancouver.

The Vancouver Fire Department responded at 7:41 a.m. to the Fishers Mill Apartments, 1000 S.E. 160th Ave. The first crew to arrive found large amounts of smoke coming from a first-floor apartment, according to a news release.

People initially reported to firefighters that someone might be inside the unit, and crews went inside to search for occupants. Firefighters didn’t find anyone and extinguished the fire quickly, the fire department said.

One person was evaluated by medical personnel but wasn’t taken to a hospital, the news release states.

The Red Cross responded to help three people who were displaced.

A total of 23 fire personnel responded, including one crew from the Camas-Washougal Fire Department.

The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
