La Center was the lone area football team to draw a top-8 seed and host a first-round game as seedings for the state football playoffs were announced Sunday.
La Center (9-1) drew the No. 6 seed and will host No. 11 Cashmere (8-2) in a Class 1A state first-round game. The game will be played at 5 p.m. Friday at Woodland High School.
If the Wildcats win, they would be headed to a quarterfinal matchup against No. 3 Nooksack Valley.
The other three area football teams still alive — Skyview, Kelso and Washougal — will travel for first-round games. All game times, days and sites will be announced by Monday.
In Class 4A, Skyview (8-2) is the No. 11 seed and will play No. 6 Graham-Kapowsin (8-2) at 4 p.m. Saturday at Art Crate Field in Spanaway. The winner gets either No. 14 Woodinville or No. 3 Sumner.
In Class 3A, Kelso (7-2) draws the No. 10 seed and will play No. 7 Ferndale (8-2) at 7 p.m. Friday at Civic Stadium in Bellingham. The winner faces either No. 15 Spanaway Lake or No. 2 Eastside Catholic.
In Class 2A, Washougal (9-1) is the No. 9 seed and will play No. 8 Highline of Burien (9-1) at 7 p.m. Friday at Highline Memorial Stadium. The winner faces either No. 16 Black Hills or No. 1 Lynden.
