RIDGEFIELD — Clark County Quilters held their 47th annual Quiltfest Northwest quilt and fiber arts show at the Clark County Event Center from Oct. 20 to 22.
One of the featured exhibits was a selection of 10 Quilts of Valor made by quilters in this region. On Friday, the Quilts of Valor representatives presented a quilt to Louis Allen, a crew chief and helicopter gunner in the Army during the Vietnam War. The quilt was presented by Barbara Broughton, Ina Findley and Joan Kimmons of Vancouver Quilts of Valor.
Quilts of Valor is a national organization formed specifically to present military veterans with these special quilts and a certificate of thanks for their service. All locally made quilts honor local veterans, and all work and materials are donated by local volunteers.
Clark County Quilters is a nonprofit organization that promotes quilting education through speakers and workshops, supports the community through charitable donations of quilts made by members, and encourages friendships among its members. The guild meets at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month, with social hour at 6 p.m., in person and via Zoom.
