The National Weather Service in Portland issued a Friday wind advisory for Clark County with gusts up to 40 mph possible.
The advisory issued Thursday morning will be in effect from noon to 10 p.m. Friday. Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are in the forecast for the Vancouver area, the Portland-metro area and the Willamette Valley.
Wind gusts are expected to move around unsecured items and could bring down tree limbs, as well as causing power outages. Visit the Clark Public Utilities website to report or get more information about power outages.
In the high Cascades, gusts of 60 to 90 mph are possible, according to NWS Portland.
In addition, an atmospheric river is expected to dump 2 to 3 inches of rain on Southwest Washington starting tonight with as much as 6 to 8 inches falling on Mount St. Helens.
The rain will transition to showers Saturday, with snow above 3,000 feet of elevation in the afternoon. Those driving over the passes should prepare for winter conditions.
