The rain on Saturday and Sunday in Vancouver totaled a bit over a half-inch with higher amounts in the foothills. Pretty much as expected. Some locales may have had much more if a heavy shower wandered through. Highs were close to 60 degrees, some 10 degrees below average. It also felt a little on the humid side as well.
The rain pushed our total for the month over 4 inches, standing at 4.06 inches Monday morning. The last day of May should be a pleasant day with no rain and temperatures in the 70s. June arrives on Wednesday and despite increasing high clouds we should reach close to 80 degrees.
But enjoy it as you can because forecast charts tell us cooler, cloudier, and of course wetter weather arrives Thursday through the weekend. The weather systems will be weak with only light showers, but heavier rain could arrive by the weekend. We’ll see.
If clouds remain at bay tonight, we may be able to see the Tau Herculids meteor shower if Earth passes through the greatest portion of the comet fragment. It isn’t a sure thing but if it occurs up to 1,000 shooting stars could be seen per hour. Since there is a new moon with no moonlight, the skies will be dark. Let’s hope the skies remain clear.
