River’s Lungwitz earns 2A district tennis title

Columbia River own their home courts, winning the singles, doubles and team titles at the Class 2A district championships on Friday.

Rapids freshman Emma Lungwitz, the top seed, defeated teammate Ari Domniti, a senior, 6-1, 6-3 for the singles title.

With the win, Lungwitz improved to 22-0 this season.

Senior Grace Rudi and sophomore Lauren Dreves, the top doubles seed, beat No. 2 Elizabeth Hopkins and Maddie Corwin of Centralia 6-2, 6-2 in the final.

Columbia River racked up 36 points to outdistance second-place Hockinson (10), and third-place Centralia (9).

Hockinson senior Molly Romanchock placed third in singles, beating Ridgefield junior Grace Gama of Ridgefield 2-6, 6-2, 6-1. Both advance to state.
