Columbia River’s Sam Boyle is Northwest Personal Training Week 27 prep athlete of the week

Voting continues through 7 p.m. Wednesday

Columbia River baseball player Sam Boyle is the Northwest Personal Training Week 27 high school athlete of the week.

Boyle beat out Hockinson softball player Bella Aspaas for the honor.

Boyle allowed no earned runs on two hits with 15 strikeouts and no walks in seven innings, and he also was 4 for 8 with two run, double and two RBI in three wins for the Rapids.

Here are the final vote totals:

  2. Bella Aspaas, Hockinson, 324
  3. Lucas Witthauer, Skyview, 220
  4. Cole Logan, Woodland, 81
  5. Jade Gruher, Union, 56

Here are what the other nominees accomplished last.

BELLA ASPAAS, HOCKINSON SOFTBALL: Aspaas went 8 for 11 with eight runs, a double, three home runs and eight RBI in three games.

JADE GRUHER, UNION GIRLS GOLF: Gruher won the Cowlitz Invitational by shooting a 2-under 69 at Mint Valley and shot a 2-under 34 in a match at Club Green Meadows.

COLE LOGAN, WOODLAND BOYS TRACK AND FIELD: Logan ran a region-best time of 41.57 in the 300 hurdles and won both hurdle races in meet against Hudson’s Bay.

LUCAS WITTHAUER, SKYVIEW BOYS SOCCER: Witthauer had five goals and four assists in three wins for the Storm.
