Prep Highlights: Columbia River boys soccer stays perfect

Rapids beat Washougal, have yet to allow a goal this season

Alex Brown scored two goals in the first half and Columbia River boys soccer remained undefeated with a 8-0 win over Washougal on Wednesday.

Brown, who helped the Rapids build a 5-0 halftime lead, also had two assists.

Columbia River is perfect through its first seven matches, outscoring opponents 36-0. Wednesday’s road win improved the Rapids to 6-0-0 in the Class 2A Greater St. Helens League.

Stars of the day

  • Skylar Groesbeck, Skyview softball, went 4 for 4 with two RBI and a double in a 12-1 win over Camas as the Storm improved to 8-0.
  • Jade Hayslip, Prairie softball, went 3 for 4 with four RBI, including a two-run double that put the Falcons ahead in the sixth inning of a 10-8 win over Evergreen.
  • Jack Dolan, Washougal baseball, went 3 for 3 with four runs scored and three RBI in a 14-3 win over Woodland.
  • Ryan McClaskey, Camas baseball, struck out 10 while allowing one hit and two walks over five innings in a 10-0 win over Evergreen.
  • Casey Struckmeier, Columbia River baseball, pitched a five-inning one-hitter, striking out five and walking none in a 10-0 win over Ridgefield. He also doubled and drove in two runs.
  • Kayla Brusseau, Union softball, hit a two-run home run in a 5-4 win over Battle Ground.
  • FJ Tuala, Hudson’s Bay softball, went 3 for 4 with a three-run homer, a solo homer and five RBI in a 8-5 win over Mark Morris.
  • Sophia Reyes, Columbia River softball, hit a two-run homer to key a three-run sixth inning in a 6-3 win over Woodland.
  • Bella Aspaas, Hockinson softball, hit a three-run homer as part of an 11-run second inning in a 15-0 win over Washougal.
  • Chanz Flores, Hudson’s Bay baseball, went 2 for 5 with a triple and four RBI in a 14-2 win over Fort Vancouver.
  • Cole Logan, Woodland track & field, won the 100 (11.82 seconds), 200 (24.26) and was on the winning 400 relay team as Woodland won a dual meet with Ridgefield.
  • Joran Lamoreaux, Woodland track & field, swept the distance events by winning the 1,600 in 4:41.41 and the 3,200 in 10:30.87.
  • Jakob Braunstein, Ridgefield track & field, won the shot put (42-8), discus (108-8) and javelin (158-4) in a dual meet at Woodland.
  • Madison Ruddy, Ridgefield track & field, won the 200 (29.10), was on the winning 400 relay team, and won the triple jump at Woodland.
  • Dossen Morrow, Mark Morris baseball, went 1 for 3 with a two-run home run and three RBI in a 9-3 win over rival R.A. Long.
  • Jasmine Chen, Camas girls golf, shot a 2-over-par 37 at Lewis River for medalist honors in the Papermakers’ 163-224 win over Woodland.
  • Mary Fogg, Mountain View softball, went 3 for 4 with a double in a 8-5 win over Heritage.
  • Wren Cecil, Prairie baseball, went 2 for 4 with three runs and three RBI in a 8-4 win over Mountain View.
