Mallory Vancleave hit a game-tying home run in the seventh inning then singled home the winning run in the ninth as Ridgefield softball beat Prairie 3-2 on Tuesday.

Vancleave drove in McKenzie Bowling with one out in the ninth, lifting the Spudders to 4-0 on the season.

The sophomore shortstop forced extra innings when she lined a solo home run to center with one out in the seventh.

That supported a strong outing by Ridgefield pitcher Elizabeth Peery. She allowed five hits over nine innings, struck out 11 and walked three.

Prairie (2-2) took a 2-0 lead on Serena Hewes’ single in the third inning.
