A man was taken to a Portland hospital Friday morning to be treated for burns he suffered when his apartment caught fire in Vancouver’s Rose Village neighborhood.
The Vancouver Fire Department responded at 9:14 a.m. to 3308 S St., to find flames coming out the front door and a window, according to department spokeswoman Heidi Parr.
The three residents were outside of the unit when crews arrived, but one man suffered burns to his head, face and hands, Parr said. His two roommates pulled him outside, and they both suffered smoke inhalation. Paramedics treated the man who was burned and took him to Legacy Emanuel Burn Center with serious injuries.
Crews extinguished the fire within 20 minutes and went inside to search and mop up, according to Parr. Nineteen Vancouver fire personnel responded.
