The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for its Citizen’s Academy, which gives participants a look at how local law enforcement works.
The program will teach people about operations, including patrol, corrections and specialty units, such as the K-9 unit and the Drug Task Force. Participants will also visit a firing range.
The free classes are scheduled for 6-9 p.m. on seven consecutive Tuesdays, beginning April 12, along with one Saturday class on April 30. The deadline to apply is March 15. The sheriff’s office will announce the location of classes closer to the when the program begins.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, live or work in Clark County and pass a limited background check, the sheriff’s office said.
