Crews rescued a man Wednesday afternoon whose vehicle veered off Highway 99, crashed into a power pole and fell 25 feet into a gully in Salmon Creek.

Clark County Fire District 6, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and AMR were dispatched at about 12:45 p.m. to Northeast Highway 99 near Parkview Drive.

Rescuers used a pulley system to haul the man on a stretcher back up the embankment, according to Fire District 6.

The man suffered a head laceration and was taken to an area hospital, sheriff’s Sgt. Brent Waddell said.

About 2,300 Clark Public Utilities customers lost power due to the crash, but power was restored within an hour, utility spokesman Dameon Pesanti said.

Waddell said there was no indication the driver was impaired or speeding.
