Re: the controversy over Vancouver’s short-term rentals: talk about throwing the baby out with the bathwater! The rental business is a great boon to our general economy. It’s all about the tourist dollars, dummy. If a few bad apples are ruining this wonderful small business there are ways to deal with just the bad guys.
Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com all have provisions for stopping the bad guys. If they receive a few complaints about a particular rental they will take down the site. The rental platforms have no incentive to let them operate, and are quick to act. Here’s to this wonderful family of entrepreneurs who bring dollar-spending visitors to our community.
