A Vancouver woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend with a 4-foot-long sword Tuesday at a Hazel Dell motel reportedly has schizophrenia and will undergo a competency evaluation.
Tednisha Louise Lee Dickson, 29, appeared Wednesday via Zoom in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder, domestic violence-related.
Judge John Fairgrieve set her bail at $300,000 and scheduled a hearing for Friday to enter the order for the competency evaluation.
The victim, James Turley, 53, told investigators Lee Dickson has previously been diagnosed with schizophrenia, according to a probable cause affidavit. She allegedly told investigators that Turley was a robot, and she stabbed him to kill him, the affidavit states.
Clark County sheriff’s deputies responded at about 9:30 a.m. to a report of an assault with a weapon at the Quality Inn & Suites, 7001 N.E. Highway 99. Turley told a 911 dispatcher that Lee Dickson stabbed him in the side with a broad sword that belongs to Turley, according to the sheriff’s office.
He was treated by medics and taken to a local hospital, where doctors determined he suffered some tissue damage near his ribs, the affidavit says.
Deputies said the couple lived together at the motel and were arguing when Lee Dickson stabbed Turley.
Turley told deputies Lee Dickson accused him of sexually assaulting her son before she stabbed him, court records state. The affidavit says there were no children at the motel with the couple.
