Clark County Elections Office seeks anti-bond statement

The Clark County Elections Office is seeking individuals to write a statement in opposition to a bond proposal on the April 26 special election ballot. Elections has received a proposition for a $62.5 million general obligation bond from the Ridgefield School District.

During each election, the Clark County Auditor’s Office provides an online and printed voters’ guide with information about candidates and/or ballot measures for voters to make an informed decision when voting. This voters’ guide often includes statements by and photographs of candidates for elected offices as well as local ballot measures with supporting and opposing statements written by residents.

Entities placing a measure on the ballot can appoint a committee to write a supporting statement and another committee to write an opposing statement. If the Elections Office does not receive a supporting or opposing statement for a local ballot measure, the staff attempts to identify residents interested in authoring such a statement.

To review the complete text of the resolution, ballot language and other resolutions for the April special election ballot, visit clarkvotes.org and click on the link for the April 26 special election near the top of the page.

Any registered voter interested in writing an opposing statement is asked to contact Cathie Garber at the Clark County Elections Department at 564-397-2345. The deadline is 3 p.m. Friday.
