SPOKANE — First responders and rescue teams in Bonner County are searching for the occupants of a performance boat after it capsized on the Pend Oreille River Tuesday night, the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.

The Bonner County Sheriff’s dive team and marine division recovered the body of one of the four occupants.

The boat capsized on the river about three miles southeast of Priest River. The river is about 94 feet deep where the accident occurred, the sheriff’s office said.

Five Bonner County Sheriff’s Office vessels are currently searching the area. The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office’s marine vessel, which is outfitted with sonar, is also assisting the search operation. An Idaho Fish and Game vessel is searching the shoreline. The Bonner County Sheriff’s Office also requested additional state resources.

The capsized vessel was pulled from the water and an investigation into the incident is underway, the sheriff’s office said.
