Ridgefield Raptors avoid shutout, but fall 8-1 to Cowlitz Black Bears

The Cowlitz Black Bears shut out the Ridgefield Raptors until the eighth inning Friday, but still came away with an 8-1 West Coast League baseball victory at the RORC.

Ridgefield didn’t help its cause by committing five errors while losing its second consecutive game and first of the three-game series.

KEY MOMENTS: Raptors catcher Jacob Sharp (CS Fullerton) brought in the only run for Ridgefield with a one-out single in the bottom of the eighth.

KEY PLAYERS: Black Bears starting pitcher Jon Mocherman (Riverside CC) improved to 2-0 with six solid innings. He struck out nine and walked two while giving up just two hits. … Raptors’ right fielder Trent Prokes (Modesto JC) improved his batting average to .463 by going 1 for 3.

NEXT GAME: Cowlitz (8-5) at Ridgefield (6-6), 6:35 p.m. Saturday. It will be Adidas Giveaway Night at the ballpark.
