All the scores from Friday’s first round of the Royal Oaks Invitational got washed away.

Almost literally.

The golf tournament for top amateurs from around the Northwest was scaled down to a 36-hole event after heavy rains fell Friday and made the Royal Oaks Country Club course unplayable by the afternoon and evening.

The decision was made to scrap Friday’s first-round scores and start fresh Saturday morning.

Zac Jones, who just completed his freshman year on the BYU golf team, started from hole No. 10 and had a round that featured an eagle and four birdies. He finished with a 5-under-par 67 to lead by 1 shot.

One shot back is Calvin Green of Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell, Ore. He had six birdies and an eagle on his way to a 68.

Jake O’Neal of Royal Oaks and Austin Spicer of Riverside Golf & Country Club are tied for third at 3-under 69.

Just nine players finished the first round under par.

The winner will be decided after Sunday’s round. Live scoring and tee times are available online at ROIT.org.
