Raptors drop first meeting with NightOwls 3-1

The Ridgefield Raptors outhit the Nanaimo NightOwls 6-3 in their first West Coast League meeting on Vancouver Island, B.C., on Friday but two of those three hits by Nanaimo players were back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning leading to a 3-1 Nanaimo victory.

KEY MOMENTS: Dylan Joyce hit a two-run home run and Connor Caskenette made it back-to-back dingers with one out in the seventh for Nanaimo.

KEY PLAYERS: Raptors starting pitcher Ben Hart (Dixie State) threw six shut-out innings, allowing one hit while striking out four and walking one. … Safea Villaruz-Mauai hit a sacrifice fly to bring in the Raptors’ run in the ninth inning.

NEXT GAME: Ridgefield (4-2) at Nanaimo, B.C. (4-5), 6:35 p.m. Saturday.
