Wednesday was a beautiful day, with mostly clear skies and some high clouds and we managed to reach 76 in Vancouver as of 5 p.m. Today is another story. We talked earlier in the week about an atmospheric river setting up over the Northwest and that is still on track.
The million-dollar question is where the heaviest band of rain will be centered. Right now it appears we have two rounds of moderate rain coming in, one late today and another later Friday into Saturday. Computer models are still all over the place on where and who gets the goods. Southwest Washington appears to be in or near the bull’s-eye for the two events.
If so, expect about one-half inch of rain tonight and another one-half inch later Friday and a quarter-inch on Saturday with showers. The Portland Rose Festival parade may luck out and be in between bands of rain. But if going, take a raincoat and umbrella.
Along with the rain it will be quite humid, uncomfortably so. Certainly not what we are used to when rain falls from the sky here. The good news is on Sunday we lose the higher humidity but along with that comes a little bad news. It will be cooler with highs only in the 60s.
