Letter: Show the terror from Uvalde

In regards to columnist John M. Crisp’s “Uvalde video doesn’t show all”: I beg to differ. He opines that omitting the screams of terrified and dying children from news footage was appropriate. Nonsense. Of course hearing cries of terror and suffering is disturbing. It is appropriate to be disturbed. Maybe more folks would become amenable to banning assault weapons if they were forced to feel disturbed about mass shootings of innocents. You also question whether “you or I” would have had the courage to be more forceful in intervening in the slaughter taking place within the elementary school. You seriously underestimate the devotion of parents of grandparents picking up their beloved charges from school. When our young are under threat, remaining passive is not an option, with or without protective gear and weapons. It would not take over an hour to decide to make that decision.
