Clark County received $389,000 from the Safe Routes to School grants, as part of the Washington State Department of Transportation using $20 million to fund 15 community projects this summer.
The Safe Routes to School program improves safety and mobility for children by encouraging and enabling them to walk and bike to school.
A 2020 review revealed that schools with Safe Routes to School had a 33 percent increase in the number of students walking and a 104 percent increase in the number of students biking.
