The cool weather from the weekend carried over to Monday with mostly sunny skies and pleasant temperatures in the late afternoon hours. It was actually a bit below average as we should hover in the low 80s for this time of the year.
The door closes to the ocean air today and the high temperature will climb near 90 degrees. That is above average so we once again oscillate with the temperatures. Up, down, up and down. It will still be in the hot category Wednesday with highs in the upper 80s. Back in the low 80s through the weekend as cooler air filters inland. You know the drill.
Looking farther on the horizon, I can tell you we get warmer or should I say hotter as next week rolls around. We will have highs in the 90s and perhaps 100 degrees or higher. Say it isn’t so. The good news, of course, is that it is down the road but most computer forecast models are heading in that direction. Time to plan a trip to the coast or mountains. However, if we get east winds, it will be hot in those destinations as well.
Meanwhile, we find some shade for today, a cool drink and enjoy the laziness of midsummer. What were we doing last year on this date? Probably the same as today, with afternoon temperatures around the county in the mid- to upper 80s. July was dry last year with no rainfall the entire month. The hottest day was 96 degrees. Will we top that this July? Good odds likely next week.
