Those stubborn low clouds. While many areas were sunny after the lunch hour, Vancouver was still reporting mostly cloudy skies at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Along the ocean beaches, it was clear at sunrise and sunny all day, with light winds and temperatures peaking in the low 70s.
It is usually the other way around, but not on Saturday. If you were at the beach, you enjoyed a superb day.
Locally, we will see morning clouds again today, but I believe they will clear earlier and we will inch upward to the upper 70s. This wasn’t a total surprise if you read Thursday’s column, in which I promised a cooler weekend.

I had a few more reports of ripe tomatoes thanks to those hot and sunny days.
Normally we see little rain in June, but with local reports from your friends and neighbors coming in, there will be enough information to share with you next week. You will recall the first half of June was cool and wet, with above-average rainfall.
We are in the dog days of summer, and as soon as August arrives, we will begin to hear the crickets on those warm, sultry nights.
Goodness, summer is fleeting little by little. I’ll end my writing so you can get outside and enjoy it.
Take good care.
