Howdy friends! It is a relaxing and pleasurable time writing my column Saturday with no worries about the upcoming weather. It is also an easy forecast, one that most will enjoy. Yes, we have a couple hot days to endure Monday and Tuesday but then back into the 80 to 85 degree range the entire week. That will make the garden grow.
Can you believe we had to wait nine days to reach 80 degrees this month? Unusual for July I’d say. Friday Vancouver had a high of 81 degrees close to normal and practically perfect in every way. Our average mean temperature is running 2.5 degrees below average due to the cloudy and cooler weather the first week of July. That’s OK, we are off and running into real summer weather now. In 2020, we had to wait until July 12 to reach our first 80-degree day in July.
The outlook after Tuesday shows either mostly sunny or sunny skies for the next ten days or so. I know that may be a head-shaker when I say mostly sunny or sunny but all it means is that we could see either some variable higher clouds at times or some early morning lower clouds that may sneak up the Columbia River. But overall, plenty of blue skies and no worries of severe weather.
Last year at this time the weather was acting a little on the crazy side. You would think after all that unusual heat with a record all-time high of 115 degrees in June of last year that the following month of July would have been another scorcher. It didn’t reach 90 degrees until July 24. Yep, weather is certainly unpredictable at times.
We’ll chat on Tuesday.
