We have managed to keep any measurable rainfall at bay despite a pesky upper-level low spinning to our north. Rain showers did fall in northern Washington but not in Vancouver. Good news. One little bit of fanfare not mentioned too much lately is our lack of rain. As of the Fourth of July, we have gone 16 days without rain. Our last batch of showers was June 18. How about that?
I’m having to water my plants almost daily now even without the hot temperatures. Funny how things can dry out so quickly after all that spring rainfall. As of early Monday, we haven’t reached the 80-degree mark yet this month in Vancouver. At least officially.
That pesky area of low pressure will hang with us a few more days and then kick off to the east. We stay in the 70s until the end of the week and then we level off in the low 80s. Nice summer weather. I know it has been risky for some like hay farmers in our county trying to second-guess the weather for cutting. Not good cutting hay and then having it rain. At least fields are staying green so the hay will be flying soon as our weather pattern stabilizes into the summer mode.
Taking a good look to the future, the National Climate Center tells us we will have temperatures at or a little below normal in July. Seems logical. Although I expect a couple of 90-degree days off and on with the earliest a week or less from now.
