A man told police he shot his house guest Thursday night at an apartment complex in east Vancouver after finding him in his teenage daughter’s bedroom, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Police responded around 10:30 p.m. to The Park at Mill Plain Apartments, 206 N.E. 126th Ave., for reports of an assault with a weapon. A male called 911 saying he’d been shot. Shortly after, another male called 911 saying he’d shot his house guest, police department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email.

The wounded male was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive, Kapp said.

The teenager was not injured.

Vancouver police’s Major Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate.
