Vancouver firefighters rescued a woman from a burning house early Sunday morning in central Vancouver.
Seven units from the Vancouver Fire Department were dispatched at 3:53 a.m. to the 4000 block of East 18th Street after a passerby called 911 to report seeing smoke and fire coming from the front of a house, according to a department news release.
The first engine arrived 4½ minutes later, as the closest engine to the address was already on an emergency call in the area. Firefighters arrived to find fire coming from the front of the single-story house and deployed a hose line to knock down the fire, the agency said. It was under control in less than 10 minutes.
Crews entered the house to search for occupants and found a female. She was removed and treated for smoke inhalation; her condition was unknown, according to the fire department.
