Clark County Public Works responds to heavy rains

Clark County Public Works spent Friday responding to calls of downed tree limbs and standing water on roads and in parks after heavy rains caused flooding across the state.

As of Friday afternoon, Lacamas Heritage Trail, the Round Lake Trail at Lacamas Regional Park and portions of the Salmon Creek Greenway Trail were closed, and Daybreak Boat Launch was inaccessible due to high water. Some park and trail areas at Moulton Falls had areas of standing water, according to the county.

Public works reminds people to never walk, ride or drive through standing water without knowing how deep it is. The agency said water 6 inches deep can sweep an adult off their feet.

Residents can pick up free sand bags at all hours of the day, any day of the week at 4700 N.E. 78th St., or 11609 N.E. 149th St. The sand and bags will be provided, but people will have to fill the bags themselves, according to a county news release.

Residents can report standing water and storm debris on roads and in parks by going to clark.wa.gov/public-works/report-park-road. For emergencies that require immediate response, people should call 564-397-2446.

People can stay updated on closures at clark.wa.gov/public-works.
