Ridgefield boys hold off Hudson’s Bay rally for 2A GSHL win

The Ridgefield boys basketball team held off a furious Hudson’s Bay rally in the fourth quarter for a 63-60 2A Greater St. Helens League win Wednesday at home.

Ridgefield led 53-34 after the third quarter, in which it outscored Hudson’s Bay 25-16.

But the Eagles roared back in the fourth quarter. Eddie Grier scored 14 of his team’s 26 points in the final quarter, including four 3-pointers.

Grier finished with seven 3-pointers and led all scorers with 23 points. Joey Gordon added 19 points for the Eagles (1-7, 1-4).

Henry Hughes scored 17 points and Ty Snider added 15 for the Spudders (7-2, 5-1).

Boys basketball

KELSO 69, PRAIRIE 46 — The Falcons played a solid first half on the road before Kelso pulled away with a 22-8 third-quarter advantage.

Prairie led 28-25 at halftime, then Kelso’s Michael Foust got hot as he scored 11 of his 17 points in the third, hitting three of his teams four 3-pointers in the quarter.

Prairie had a rough night at the free-throw line, going 7 for 18.

The Falcons’ Hayden Rose led all scorers with 25 points, and Baily Kousonsavath added 13.

LA CENTER 65, HOQUIAM 58 — Colby Hylton scored 24 points to lead the Wildcats to a non-league road win.

Hylton scored 14 points in a crucial third quarter, where La Center outscored Hoquiam 21-9 to overcome a 30-25 halftime deficit.

Jordan Nixon added 14 points, including four 3-pointers, for La Center (3-7).

WOODLAND 63, WASHOUGAL 49 — Dane Huddleston made eight 3-pointers to set the program’s single-game record as the Beavers earned a 2A GSHL road win.

That broke the previous record of seven shared by Huddleston’s brothers Hayden and Tanner.

The Beavers (6-2, 4-1) pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Washougal 23-13.

Girls basketball

WASHOUGAL 63, WOODLAND 29 — Jaiden Bea scored 25 points as the Panthers remained unbeaten in the 2A Greater St. Helens League with a road win.

Samantha Mederos added 15 points for Washougal (7-2, 4-0).

Kenzi Bunger scored 11 points to lead Woodland (3-6, 1-5).

MOUNTAIN VIEW 54, BATTLE GROUND 33 — Victoria Schneider scored 24 points as the Thunder earned their first win of the season.

Katelyn Henderson added 11 points for Mountain View (1-4).

Yvette Rosales and Danielle Arn each scored six points for Battle Ground (0-5), which had eight of its 10 players score.

Girls bowling

  • Kailee Wilcox, Evergreen girls bowling, had the high game and series of the match with 212-168 as the Plainsmen beat Prairie at Tiger Bowl.
  • Kylee Jo Wisinski, Columbia River girls bowling, had the high game and series scores of 180-203 as the Rapids beat Ridgefield.
