Christopher Maynard of Woodland announced his withdrawal from the race to represent Southwest Washington in Congress, reducing its number of Democratic challengers to one.
The candidate wrote Monday that he was going to end his campaign for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District in light of personal news. Maynard added he would stay engaged in advocating for people in the district by endorsing fellow Democrat Brent Hennrich, D-Vancouver.
“Brent has promised us all that, should he be elected, he will continue to listen,” Maynard wrote in the press release. “Should he break that promise, it will be the job of those in Southwest Washington to hold him accountable; however, thus far, he has not given me any reason to doubt he will continue to uphold this promise.”
Maynard’s primary focus was to reduce wealth disparities and strengthen America’s middle class.
