Opsahl Dawson, a Pacific Northwest Certified Public Accounting firm headquartered in Southwest Washington, announced three new shareholders.
Team members, Kelsey Elwess, Sam Christensen, and Ursula Perkins were promoted to the firm’s growing shareholder group in January 2022.
Elwess and Christensen have teamed up to overhaul the Opsahl Dawson Entity Department with industry-leading software, training, and procedures.
In addition to her status as a shareholder, Perkins will also assume primary leadership of the organization’s Trust Department as its new director.
The business leaders group Identity Clark County has appointed long-time board member and former chairman Scott Horenstein to the honorary position of chair emeritus.
Horenstein is the principal of Scott Horenstein Mediation LLC, which provides mediation services to resolve family and business differences that otherwise are destined for deliberation in courts. He was an attorney in Clark County for most of his professional career where he gained a reputation for finding mediated solutions. Horenstein joined the board of directors of Identity Clark County in 2000 and served as its chair from 2010 to 2012.
Horenstein becomes the third chair emeritus for Identity Clark County, joining Tom Mears and the late Ed Lynch. The organization also has honored four business leaders with director emeritus titles, including Elie Kassab, Ron Frederiksen, Scott Campbell and Tami Nesburg.
Ty Stober, mayor pro tem of Vancouver, has been appointed to chair the National League of Cities 2022 First Tier Suburbs Council. First Tier Suburbs are cities that surround — and are influenced by — a larger metropolitan core. Stober was elected to a one-year term to develop and guide programs among local elected officials from similar communities. The appointment was announced by NLC President Mayor Vince Williams of Union City, Ga.
As a member of NLC’s First Tier Suburbs Council, Stober will play a key role among a diverse group of local leaders to encourage collaboration, networking, and develop resources and programs to benefit communities that share similar demographics, size or locations.
Joining Stober on this year’s council are vice chair Kristopher Dahir, councilmember from Sparks, Nev.; and vice chair Marlo Alston, councilmember from Centennial, Colo.
