Check it Out: Celebrate amazing big cats

It’s the Year of the Tiger, hear me roar! I think we all know how awesome tigers are, but do you know who really loves tigers? Kids! And I’ve known more than one youngster (myself included) who wanted to be a fierce tiger — ROWR!

To help celebrate this amazing big cat, I want wannabe tiger cubs to have a tiger-filled reading list. Picture books are the main focus — “Go Get’em Tiger!” “Tiger Tiger” “The Tiptoeing Tiger” “When a Tiger Comes to Dinner” — but I’ve also included two children’s nonfiction titles that will inform little ones about real tigers and tiger behavior.

I think we can all agree that reading about tigers is grrreat!

  • “Go Get’em Tiger!” written by Sabrina Moyle, illustrated by Eunice Moyle.
  • “Mission Tiger Rescue: All About Tigers and How to Save Them” by Kitson Jazynka.
  • “Tiger Tiger” written and illustrated by Jonathan Lambert.
  • “Tigers and Their Cubs: A 4D Book” by Margaret Hall.
  • “The Tiptoeing Tiger” written and illustrated by Philippa Leathers.
  • “When a Tiger Comes to Dinner” written and illustrated by Jessica Olien.
