Six local wrestlers capture regional titles at girls regional in Aberdeen

Ridgefield’s Uruwa Abe and Tyla Engstrom, Prairie Kennedy Wilcox and Faith Tarrant, Union’s Niah Cassidy and Washougal’s Lacey Klopman all garnered titles at the girls regional tournament in Aberdeen.

Wins by Wilcox at 125 pounds and Tarrant at 235 pounds helped Prairie place fourth in the team standings. Union was sixth and Washougal 10th.

Both Prairie wrestlers won finals over local contestants, with Wilcox beating Union’s Janessa O’Connell and Tarrant topping Skyview’s Jaelyn Saylor.

Abe captured the regional title at 110 pounds and Engstrom followed at 115 pounds. Union’s Cassidy won at 120 pounds.

Klopman beat R.A. Long’s Zahnika Olsen for the 170 pound title.
