Clark County Council Chair Karen Bowerman is accepting applications for the District 5 council seat. Current District 5 representative Eileen Quiring O’Brien has announced she plans to retire from the council at the end of the month, but she has not yet submitted a letter of resignation.

Interested applicants must be a registered voter in Clark County and live in District 5, which includes much of the northern end of the county. A council district map is available on the county’s website.

If Quiring O’Brien specifies March 1 as her last day, the effective date for filling the position will be March 2. The term for the open position will end Dec. 31, 2022. The District 5 seat is up for election in November.

Bowerman will nominate three applicants to be interviewed by the county council. The council then will select one of the nominees to fill the open seat.

Applicants should send a letter of interest and a resume to Kristin Davidson, County Council Office, P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver, WA 98666-5000. Applications can be sent by email to kristin.davidson@clark.wa.gov; include a cc: to karen.bowerman@clark.wa.gov.

The application deadline is 2 p.m. Feb. 18.
