A Thursday night fire damaged an apartment at 1604 X St., according to the Vancouver Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched at 10:15 p.m. to a wood-framed apartment house and arrived to find flames shooting from a window on the top floor.

The fire was knocked down in 9 minutes with the help of 20 firefighters using four engines and two ladder trucks. Two battalion chiefs directed operations on the scene.

No injuries were reported, but the fire displaced two residents, who were assisted by the American Red Cross.

An investigation of the cause of the fire and a damage assessment are being conducted by the Vancouver Fire Marshal’s office, according to a news release from the fire department.

County property records show that the eight-unit apartment house is owned by a Portland investor.
