Police pursued an apparent homicide suspect from Thurston County traveling south on Interstate 5 through Clark County Friday afternoon.

At about 2 p.m., officers were notified of a pursuit of a gray Ford Fusion traveling at about 100 mph, according to radio traffic monitored by The Columbian. There appeared to be a man driving with a woman passenger.

The Ford encountered traffic around the 179th Street exit and began weaving through the cars, according to radio traffic. The sedan was described as missing the front license plate and appeared to have been in a wreck.

Approaching the 78th Street exit, the Ford was driving in the shoulder of the highway at about 90 to 100 mph, radio traffic indicated. At one point, officers attempted to deploy spike strips, but it appeared unsuccessful.

Around the Interstate 5 Bridge, officers said over the radio they lost sight of the Ford and were unsure if it made it into to Oregon or not.

The suspect was not identified over the radio while it was monitored by The Columbian.
