Prep basketball highlights: Camas boys edge Mountainside

The Camas Papermakers shot better than 50 percent from behind the 3-point line Saturday, making 13 on their way to a 78-75 win over Mountainside of Beaverton, Ore.

Camas (3-1) was 2-0 in the Friday-Saturday games at the Mountainside tournament.

Beckett Currie led Camas in scoring with 27 points. He made six 3-pointers.

Matthew Chilian and Theo McMillan each scored 15 points for Camas. Chilian’s was a career high.

Camas was able to pull ahead with a 19-9 third quarter after being down 41-36 at the half. The Papermakers sealed the victory by going 6 for 9 from the free-throw line and making five 3’s in the fourth quarter.

MOUNT SI 84, UNION 59 — Mount Si shot lights-out against the Titans, making 15 3-pointers and all nine of its free throws. Just four of the Wildcats’ 10 players scored points.

Union (3-2) was led by 32 points from Yanni Fassilis and 13 points from Evan Manville.

Mount Si’s Trevor Hennig led all scorers with 34 points with seven 3-pointers, and Blake Forrest had 23 points, also with seven 3 pointers.

LA CENTER 84, TOUTLE LAKE 76 — Austin Nixon had a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds plus four assists as the Wildcats held off Toutle Lake on the road.

Boston Walker added 16 points, six rebounds and six steals for La Center.

Toutle Lake’s Zach Swanbon poured in 41 points. He was 15 for 19 from the free-throw line in a game that featured 55 free-throw attempts by the two teams.

Girls basketball

CAMAS 53, BELLARMINE PREP 44 — Riley Sanz scored a game-high 16 points and Reagan Jamison had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds in the Papermakers’ non-league victory.

“We hosted the No. 4 team and they lived up to the hype,” Camas coach Scott Thompson said. “Amazing game and environment.”

Sanz made a clutch 3-pointer from the corner with 40 seconds play to put Camas up six. She also had eight rebounds and five assists in the game.

Keirra Thompson had 12 points, four rebounds and four assists, and Addison Harris had 11 rebounds, four points and two assists for Camas.

ADNA 41, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 31 — Visiting Adna got out to a fast start with a 21-10 first quarter and went on to win the non-league contest at King’s Way.

Hannah Erwin led King’s Way in scoring with nine points, all 3-pointers, and also had five rebounds.

Bridget Quinn added six points, six rebounds and three steals, Ella Zimmerman had six points and four rebounds, and Kennedy Broadbent had six points, three steals and two rebounds.
