A Vancouver man was killed after leaving the roadway and crashing into tree alongside Northeast WH Garner Road Wednesday morning in Yacolt.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office, North Country EMS and Clark County Fire District 13 responded at 8:26 a.m. to the single-vehicle crash near Northeast 225th Court.

Crews arrived to find a 2000 Toyota Echo with severe front-end damage, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, identified as 45-year-old Gary A. Seal, was unconscious when emergency responders arrived and later pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators determined that the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the road, left the roadway and crashed into a tree and fence, the news release states. Detectives believe excessive speed was a factor.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
