The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a Portland man that went missing from a home along the Washougal River on Friday morning.

Blake N. Strong, 30, of Portland was reported missing Friday afternoon. He apparently had been at a family residence.

According to the sheriff’s office, his orange floating device was found along the river after sunup Friday. Deputies responded and deployed a UAV, but Strong was not located.

The sheriff’s office said in a statement that Strong had been injured the day before in the area and had hidden his pack along the riverbank. He may have returned to the area to retrieve the pack after being released from the hospital.

Strong is under the care of a physician and requires daily medication.

A witness reported seeing Strong walking west, in the Washougal River, wearing a green pack on Friday. He may have also been seen walking along Washougal River Road in Clark County.

Strong is  5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds. He has blue eyes and strawberry-blond hair. He was last seen wearing khaki shorts, a black hat and hiking boots. He may also have a blue “puffy” style jacket or a bright blue zip up hoodie, along with a large green backpack.

Anyone with information as to Strong’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Skamania Count Sheriff’s Office at 509-427-9490 or dial 311.
