The Port of Vancouver will hold two public hearings in September as part of its redistricting process at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 13 and Sept. 27 at the port’s headquarters. The hearings will also be broadcast on Clark Vancouver Television. A vote to adopt the new map will be held Sept. 27 after the public hearing.

This process of redrawing commissioner district boundaries happens every 10 years after the federal census.

The county’s growing population has affected the equal distribution of residents living in each of the port’s three commissioner districts, according to a statement from the port.

“Due to this growth, a proposed map has been drawn, adjusting the commissioner district boundaries to bring the three districts to as nearly equal population as possible,” read the statement.

The port has until November of this year to complete the redistricting process.
