Another hot one Wednesday with 93 degrees as of 5 p.m. in Vancouver. Today we see a similar high temperature before we cool off. I mentioned a cold air mass drifting down from British Columbia, and that will keep us cool, mainly in the 70s over the weekend. Will we reach or top 80 degrees? Maybe not. A high of 75 is possible.
It appears we’ll warm back up into the 80s next week, and forecast models are at odds whether we see more 90-degree weather midweek. That has certainly been our staple lately, but hey, things must change eventually.
There will be cold enough air over us Saturday that we could see some light showers, maybe a tenth of an inch or less. Don’t bet on that one yet, but a light shower or two is a possibility especially along the Washington coastline. Only a temporary downturn.
Speaking of the coast, for some unknown reason the ocean waters off the Long Beach Peninsula are running in the low to mid-60s. What happened to the 50-degree waters? I prepared to go wading Wednesday to feel the surf. My toes had already frozen and were numb in anticipation of the usual cold water. I stepped in and the water thawed my feet, and it was pleasantly warm. Not a shocker where one would usually kick one’s foot back out of the water.
