A 40-year-old Vancouver man was fatally shot Wednesday in Portland’s Hazelwood neighborhood.
The Oregon Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Scott Joseph Tovar and determined he died from a gunshot wound. Tovar’s family was notified of his death, the Portland Police Bureau said in a news release Monday.
East precinct officers responded at 8:07 p.m. to a report of a person shot at East Burnside Street and Southeast 127th Avenue. Upon arrival, they found Tovar dead, the police bureau previously said.
The shooting suspect or suspects fled the scene, and no immediate arrests were made.
Portland Police Homicide Unit detectives responded and are investigating.
