The driver of a Ford pickup is in critical condition after being ejected from the truck during a rollover crash Monday morning near Battle Ground.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies, AMR and Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue responded at 9:27 a.m. to the intersection of Northeast 259th Street and 72nd Avenue, west of Daybreak Regional Park, for reports of an injury crash. Multiple 911 callers reported a single-vehicle rollover crash with the driver ejected, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

The first crews to arrive found a 2005 Ford Ranger on its side with extensive damage, the news release states. The injured driver was in the street a short distance away from the pickup.

The driver was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. The sheriff’s office did not release the identity of the driver.

Investigators determined the pickup was traveling north on 72nd Avenue when the driver failed to negotiate the turn onto 259th Street. The sheriff’s office said excessive speed appears to be a factor.

The sheriff’s office’s traffic unit is continuing to investigate.
