LINCOLN — The Vancouver Master Chorale has chosen new officers for its upcoming season.
Katherine Nitsch, the Master Chorale’s new president, met the group’s musical director, Jana Hart, when both taught in Battle Ground Public Schools. Nitsch joined Vancouver Master Chorale last year when her bluegrass band, Misty Mamas, had limited gigs outdoors due to COVID-19 and she “missed having music swirling around in my head.
“I love how it all comes together during our concerts,” Nitsch said, “singing with dynamics and passion under Jana’s direction.”
Nitsch sang in a band called the Sterling Generation while she was a student at University of Oregon in the 1960s. She also sang with the Norman Leyden Pops Singers in 1973 and the Olympia Chorale in the 1980s.
Other board members are: Dan Warner, vice president of business; Cara Hernandez, vice president of concerts; Jan Bielby, vice president of technology; Dennis Halberkamp, treasurer; Kristin Judge, secretary; Susan Pautz, vice president of membership; and Min Kuang, vice president of marketing.
The chorale consists of 80 members, ranging in age from their early 20s to mid-80s.
