Multiple lanes of the southbound span of the Interstate 5 Bridge were closed due to police activity about 7 a.m. and a later motorcycle crash Tuesday morning.
The Vancouver Fire Department and American Medical Response were called to the bridge at 7 a.m. Few details were available but signs on I-5 approaching the bridge warned drivers of slow traffic and lane closures shortly after 7 a.m.
By 8 a.m. traffic was slowed to Minnehaha on I-5 and to east of the Vancouver Land Bridge on state Highway 14 west. Some of the backups spilled into downtown.
The Washington State Department of Transportation said on Twitter that there was a collision involving a motorcycle and at least one other vehicle in the right lane on the I-5 Bridge southbound at 7:33 a.m., furthering the traffic delays. There was no word on injuries.
The left and center lanes on the bridge reopened about 8:30 a.m. but traffic was backed up to Hazel Dell by that point.
