Two days ago the West Coast League-leading Corvallis Knights had a 15-game winning streak. The Knights are now on a two-game losing streak as the Ridgefield Raptors started their final series of the regular season with a 7-4 win Friday at the RORC.
KEY MOMENTS: Jacob Sharp (three-run shot) and Will Chambers hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning for a 4-0 Raptors’ lead. Ridgefield would not give back that advantage.
KEY PLAYERS: Nate Weeldreyer pitched six effective innings for his first win. He allowed two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk plus got out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth inning. … David Allen picked up a six-out save with two scoreless innings of relief. … Austin Caviness was 4 for 4 with an RBI, and Travis Welker was 3 for 4 with a double and RBI as part of the Raptors’ 12-hit attack.
