Ridgefield City Council has a new member among its ranks. Matt Cole was appointed Thursday to the Position 4 council seat left vacant when former Councilor Don Stose announced his retirement in January.

Cole was one of four candidates for the position, along with Katie Favela, Jake Bredstrand and Darcy Rouark. According to a press release issued Friday, Cole was unanimously selected by the council at its April 28 meeting following an additional round of interviews and a “rigorous process including multiple questionnaires, finalist selection and a public candidate forum.”

Cole was sworn in at Thursday’s council meeting. He will be required to run for election in 2023.

“These four finalists are why Ridgefield is such a great city. All of them are dedicated, passionate advocates for our community,” Mayor Jennifer Lindsay said in the press release. “Matt is the candidate with the best background to help him hit the ground running successfully.”
