A 22-year-old Vancouver man, who was already facing a felony rape charge, is now accused of targeting underage girls for sex, court records show.
Hunter McGrath Allen Newton, 22, appeared Thursday in Clark County Superior Court on a summons for first-degree dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, sexual exploitation of a minor, second-degree kidnapping and third-degree rape of a child, involving two victims. He was apparently out on bail when the alleged crimes occurred.
On Thursday, Judge John Fairgrieve ordered $100,000 bail in the case, though court records note Newton has until noon Saturday to post bail or surrender to the jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned May 11.
In the earlier case, dated between November 2020 and July 2021, a 15-year-old girl said Newton had been trying to hang out with her for about three years. She finally agreed, and he picked her up and took her to his residence, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Newton gave the girl methamphetamine, because he is a “drug dealer,” she said, and they had sexual contact. The girl said Newton was “pushy” and acknowledged she was underage, the affidavit states.
This occurred a few more times over the next couple of weeks, she said. The girl became pregnant, and Newton asked her not to tell anyone, she said, because he was already facing a rape charge, court records say.
In a separate probable cause affidavit, on May 11, 2021, Newton picked up a 17-year-old girl in Lebanon, Ore., after communicating online.
Newton took her to his residence and gave her methamphetamine, she said. He took her cellphone and convinced her to let him film their sexual contact and post it online for money, she said. He and his friends reportedly pooled the money to buy a Honda, the affidavit states.
He also told her he was out on bail in a rape case, she said, and read her police reports from that case. The girl said she felt uncomfortable and wanted to go home, court records say.
On May 17, Newton and the girl were driving around when she told him she wanted to go home. She said she had been trafficked in the past and was feeling anxiety because this reminded her of that. Newton refused to stop the car or take her home, she said, according to the affidavit.
Newton pulled out a pocketknife, she said, and clipped it to the rim of his hat. He told her he was mad at her for telling one of the buyers of the online photos and video that she was underage, she said. He eventually left her with a friend to take her home, court records say.
